Media Center

Welcome to the LCPS Media Center!   Our media center is a fun and exciting place where students explore books, stories, and technology.  We help students develop a love for reading, learn how to find information, and use digital tools safely.  Classes visit the media center for story time, stations, and to check out books.  During story time, we read books that teach us about ourselves and the world around us.   After story time and checkout, we have stations that foster creativity and independence.  While classes are taking place, we also have individual students coming independently to browse the shelves and check out books.

Circulation Policies

  • Kindergarten students check out one book per week when they come to the media center with their class.  After learning all 62 sight words, they are allowed to come individually.  Kindergarten students do not take books home.
  • First graders are allowed to have 1 book out at a time and may visit the media center individually during the week, but they do not take books home until January.
  • Second graders  are allowed to take their book home and may visit the media center individually as needed.
